Sea Watch International Announces Sponsorship of Race Team

June 23, 2008

Sea Watch International headquartered in Easton, MD announces the sponsorship of Sea Watch Tri-Clam Racing. Sea Watch International is recognized as the largest harvester, processor and marketer of domestic offshore clams. These domestic clams are known throughout the foodservice, industrial and retail trade as Ocean Clams (Arctica islandica) and Sea or Surf Clams (Spisula solidissima). The sponsorship seeks to promote the nutritional benefits of clams. Clams are very high in protein and low in fat. Their texture and flavor make them highly versatile in many recipe applications. Not only are they tasty but they have the capacity to provide athletes as well as common folk a powerful source of protein without unwanted fat and cholesterol.

Tri-Clam Racing actually consists of only one Triathlete, Brian Shea. Brian happens to be a Sales Manager for Sea Watch International and lives in Boxford, MA with his wife Linda. Brian has spent the better part of the last decade training and competing in Triathlons in the Northeast. As part of his training and diet regimen Brian enjoys clams. He is partial to the Whole Ocean Clams; these can be prepared in many ways so their consumption does not become monotonous. Hopefully by season's end Brian will share some of his favorite recipes with his fans.

As in most adult sports, Triathlons have divisions based on age group. Brian competes in the 60 to 64 age bracket. Consider this, Brian ran a half marathon over the Memorial Day weekend as a warm up for the season. A half marathon is 13 miles; he completed the race with an average of 8 minute miles. The regional Triathlons have different lengths; the shorter ones can be a 1 mile swim, 27 mile bike and a 6 mile run. The ultimate is the "Iron Man" distance of 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. Most of the races Brian competes in this year will be in the Half "Iron Man" range.
